James Pratt has directed some of the top fashion commercials seen over the last 5 years and this month his talent continued to be recognized by collecting his 5th major film award in 2021, winning at this year’s Hollywood Gold Awards in Los Angeles.
The passionate filmmaker and actor who has been on a winning streak in 2021, took home the trophy for Best Director at this year’s event. “I’m extremely appreciative and humbled to even be acknowledged, thank you, “said Pratt, on receiving the award.
The Gold Awards highlight the film industry’s most talented and showcase people who have demonstrated exceptional skill over the last 12 months.
It’s been a strong year for the Aussie who adds best director to a decorated list of wins in 2021 that includes. Winning, Best Supporting Actor at the 2021 American Golden International Film Festival, Best Presenter at the 2021 ihollywood Film Festival, Best Director at the 2021 Marbella Film Festival, and Best TVC at the Hollywood Golden Age Festival in 2021.
Pratt who was born in Sydney Australia didn’t get into acting and filmmaking until after high school where he first trained at the National Institute of Dramatic Arts, an acting school that has trained the likes of Mel Gibson, Cate Blanchett, and Alex O’Loughlin. After training at NIDA, he took time off and lived in outback Australia for 12 months. Before leaving the outback he made a $200 short film called New York Model Agent that showcased 10,000-acre wheat fields and sweeping sunsets against a comedy storyline about a man from New York. The film was selected for the 2012 NBC Universal Shorts Fest in San Francisco and drew high praise from NBC executives who were eager to turn the short into a feature film.
From there Pratt’s career has gone from strength to strength, his latest project Skymist is soon to be officially announced, while he just wrapped filming the lead role in a new feature film heading to cinemas in Jan 2022.
