We were able to finally catch-up with Signer and Recording Artist Clayton Morgan for an in-depth interview about his musical success and how his music career has been thus far.
Mr. Morgan’s last two singles have reached #1 on iTunes and he’s hoping to make it to the top again.
CP – Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?
Mr. Morgan – I’ve always enjoyed singing from early childhood. I was in school musicals, theatre and choir. I knew I wanted to be an entertainer from a young age.
CP – Can you share the most interesting story that occurred to you in the
course of your music career?
Mr. Morgan – Recently Taste For Love went #1 on iTunes Canada Electronic chart. It was a complete shock to me. I was very excited and happy in that moment.
CP – What are some of the most interesting or exciting projects you are
working on now?
Mr. Morgan – I’m currently working on my next single that will be released before the end of 2018. It’s different from Taste For Love, but it’s a really good song. I can’t wait to share it with everyone.
CP – Who are some of the most interesting people you have interacted with? What was that like? Do you have any stories?
Mr. Morgan – My vocal coach Ms. Shelly is hilarious. We have so much fun during our lessons. She’s talked about filming the sessions because it’s so comical at times. We have a good time working together. It makes the work that more rewarding.
CP – Which people in history inspire you the most? Why?
Mr. Morgan – I am inspired by people like Martin Luther King and others that worked for change during the Civil Rights Movement. King sacrificed his life in order to make things better for Black people. I am also inspired by people in our Armed Forces. They make the ultimate sacrifices for us to enjoy our freedom and democracy as Americans.
CP – How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world?
Mr. Morgan – I try to spread positive messages on my Instagram account. I am very big on positive thinking, positive affirmations and what you put out in the world is what you get back. The messages I put out help inspire me, so I hope it inspires others.
CP – You are a person of great influence. If you could start a movement that
would bring the most amount of good to the most amount of people, what
would that be?
Mr. Morgan – You never know what your idea can trigger. 🙂 I would organize a movement for better mental health programs in this country. There is so much violence lately. I believe the root is mental illness. I think if these issues were addressed, we would see a reduction in violent crime.
CP – Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to
help them to thrive and not “burn out”?
Mr. Morgan – I would recommend taking time out for yourself from work. Take a vacation and come back to regroup. Also, realize that we don’t have control over everything and sometimes we have to just let things happen.
CP – What are your “5 things I wish someone told me when I first started” and
why. Please share a story or example for each.
Mr. Morgan – I wish someone had told me how hard the music career can be. This business is really about who you know. Just because you think your song is good, and it might be doesn’t mean others will embrace it that way. I wish they told me how people won’t return phone calls or emails. Some people won’t give you the time of day, so you have to be accustomed to rejection and keep moving forward.
